Sandy Beach is located on Crystal Lake on Route 140 in the northern end of town. Our beach offers swimming and sunbathing opportunities on hot summer days. Note: To ensure the safest environment for both our patrons and staff, several modifications will be implemented at all times during waterfront operation. 2024 Sandy Beach Memo

The 2024 operating schedule for the beach for 2024 season daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

 Patrons are called out of the water 15 minutes prior to closing time.

NO SMOKING/VAPING OF ANY KIND ALLOWED 
NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED

NO FISHING IS ALLOWED IN THE SWIMMING AREA AT ANY TIME. 

NO FISHING NETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE SWIMMING AREA.

NO FLOATS ALLOWED IN THE SWIMMING AREA (ONLY COAST GUARD APPROVE FLOATATION DEVICES)

UMBRELLAS MUST BE TETHERED DOWN FOR SAFETY REASONS. UMBRELLAS MUST BE POSITIONED BEHIND THE LIFEGUARD STANDS CLOSEST TO THE GUARDRAILS AND SECURED WHEN IN USE.

Seasonal Passes will be available for Ellington Residents beginning May 6th, 2024 via the online registration system Activenet or in-person at the Ellington Recreation Department during normal business hours Mondays 8am-6:30pm, Tuesday - Thursdays 8:00am - 4:30pm

Ellington residents may purchase seasonal passes from the Recreation Department at a cost of:

  • $75 per family (Ellington residents only)
  • $40 per single (Ellington residents only)
  • $10 per senior citizen (Ellington residents only)

2024 Ellington Resident Daily walk-in Fees  

  • $10 per adult ages 18+ 
  • $8 per child 6-17 years old  - ages 5 and under free 
  • $1 per senior (60+) 

2024 NON-Resident Daily walk-in Fees  

  • $20 per adult ages 18+ 
  • $10 per child 6-17 years old - ages 5 and under free 
  • $1 per senior (60+)

Directions


Take 84E to Exit 67.  Turn left at bottom of the exit.  Go for about mile to intersection of Route 30.  Turn right onto Route 30.  Go for about 5 or 6 miles on Route 30.  Follow signs for Route 20. Road take a sharp left (light at left turn Landmark Leonards Veterinary on corner). Stay on Route 30 until intersection of 140.  Turn right at 4 way stop, go straight up hill, Sandy Beach is about a mile up on left hand side.
