The Ellington Parks and Recreation Department has many activities for your family to enjoy.

We have programs that fit any child's interest or hobby. We welcome all children no matter their age or skill level.

Fall Soccer

Fall Recreational  Soccer

Grades 3 through 8 boys and girls 
There will be 3 divisions available: D-3, 4 and 5 (D-5 is the recreation/travel level).
NOTE:  Please register child for the grade he/she is entering in the fall
Fee: $50 for 1st child / $85 for 2 children /$95 total for 3 or more children

Fall Travel Soccer

Boys and Girls born between 2005 through 2012.
Players selected to a travel team (COMP) do not have to participate on a recreation/travel team. If a child does not attend a minimum of 2 evaluations he/she will be assigned to a 
D5 team unless an opening exists at a higher level. 
Fee: $50 registration fee, additional $30 if placed on a D3/D4 team
Player must be registered before attending any evaluation.

Boys & Girls instructional youth basketball (4 years - 2nd grade)

Saturday mornings at the Ellington Middle School Gym.  Parent Volunteers are needed in
order to provide a better Coach to Player ratio. If interested in being a volunteer

Program runs December-February.
Instructional Fees: $45/1 child,  $60/2 children,  $72/3 or more children in program

Parks & Recreation T-Ball Program

(Coed, Ages 4 -5)
Age 4 in 2020 up to those who turned 5 years old before 12/31/2019
Saturday mornings, 10:00 am -11:00 am, Ellington High School (fields located behind the school)
Cost: $25 per player (includes T-shirt)
Parent Volunteer Coaches are needed for this program. Participants must provide their own glove. NO WOOD OR METAL  BATS ARE ALLOWED IN THIS PROGRAM.

Girls & Boys Spring Lacrosse Outdoor Program 

The Recreation Department offers spring Travel Teams for grades 1st through 8th. Please contact if you have interest in volunteering.
The following chart will help determine who is eligible for which team:
 CVYL Division Birthday range for 2018 season NEW USL age designation  OLD Grade based designation

 Junior 9/1/06 - 8/31/08 12U 6th & 5th

Travel Guidelines
The boys and girls lacrosse programs will be considered “travel” programs.  Current Town policy requires each player to receive a minimum of 25% playing time, per game; however, it is anticipated that every attempt will be made to increase playing time percentage over the course of the regular season.
Evaluation Session: The Recreation Department reserves the right to establish/schedule two evaluation sessions (based on enrollment) in order to provide/select balanced teams and assign teams to the appropriate levels of competition; Bantam, Junior and Senior levels.  It will be required that each player attend at least 1 of the 2 evaluation sessions. Time and location will be determined after registration closes.
Mandatory Parents Meeting: There will be mandatory parents/players meeting in March to review details and season expectations, costs, fundraising and rule changes for 2020.      Date & Time TBA.  
Lacrosse Equipment Required:
Girls: Stick, goggles, mouth guard and cleats
Boys: Helmet (black), mouth guard, shoulder & elbow pads, cleats, athletic supporter, gloves and regulation stick.
Season Practice Schedules:
Lightning’s practice 1-2 days per week
Bantams practice 2-3 days per week
Juniors and Seniors practice 3-5 days per week
Fees: Families with 3 or more participants will receive a $10 family discount per child.
